We are excited to announce that for the 2024-2025 school year, our schools will continue participating in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). This means all students will have access to FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH again for the upcoming school year! This will help eliminate the financial strain on families as they will no longer have to pay for school meals. We are very proud to be a part of the CEP Program and believe it has positively impacted our students.

Students will still be able to purchase "extras" and a la carte items. PayPams will still be available if you would like to keep a reserve amount in your child's lunch account for special purchases.

In accordance with Alabama Code section 41– 16– 143, the Lamar County Board of Education posts this public notice that at 6 PM on July 11, 2024, at the Board offices at 150 Butler Circle SW, Vernon, AL, the Board will hold a public hearing and receive public comment on a proposal to award a guaranteed energy savings contract to Trane, a corporation (and/or it’s related companies). The public is invited to submit comment in writing which must be received by the Board prior to the above date and time or to attend the meeting and make public comment.

The Lamar County Board of Education will host a Kelly Services job fair to recruit substitutes for our district. Substitutes are needed for CNP workers, teachers, and clerical. If you want to become a substitute for Lamar County Schools, please join us on Tuesday, June 18, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

All Lamar County Schools will dismiss at 12:15 beginning Monday through Thursday. Vernon Elementary will dismiss at 12:00.

Athletic physicals will be held at each school tomorrow for grades 6-11 who are interested in participating on athletic teams for the 2024-2025 school year. Physical forms went home with students and are available in the school office. Completed physical forms must be turned in to have a physical.
