The school year is just around the corner!🎉🎉 We look forward to seeing you at the Stallion Round-Up on August 6th!!!

Today was my last day at South Lamar. As the door closed behind me, it not only closed the door to another wonderful school year, but it also closed the door to one chapter that has been the majority of my book. I have had 30 first days of school at South Lamar: 11 as a student, 11 as a teacher, 3 as assistant principal, and 5 as principal. To say I will miss being here every day is an understatement. There have been challenging, stressful, and heartbreaking days, but none o...f those outweigh the love felt from students, the staff that has become family, and the genuine fulfillment of what we do at South Lamar. I have loved every minute of it! I am thankful for a staff that has exceeded my expectations. Our school is what it is because of who they are. I’ve watched them day in and day out work tirelessly to ensure we continue to excel in academics, sports, and other extracurricular activities. They have also loved our students through joyous times and sad times. You won’t find better. PERIOD! I have been blessed with two communities of parents who have supported our school. We may be hard to find on a map, but that is a positive. That is what makes us special. There is nothing like small towns and small-town people. Thank you for entrusting me with your most precious gift each and every day. And to my students past and present… besides my family, you are the reason I get up every day. I love seeing your smiles. I love seeing you learn. I love hearing your funny stories. I love watching you grow and blossom into wonderful little humans. I’ve tried to carefully and thoughtfully make each decision with you at the forefront. I have had many sleepless nights wondering if the decisions I made were the right ones. In the end, I can rest my head at night knowing I made what I felt was best for you. Thank you for loving me and teaching me probably more than I have taught you. ❤️ As I move in a different career path, I hope that I can continue to make an impact on not only South Lamar but all Lamar County Schools. I am thankful to be given the opportunity to be Secondary Curriculum Supervisor and Federal Programs Coordinator (along with a few other hats 😂). Josh Harper will take over as the 9th principal of South Lamar School, and Heather Swedenburg will serve as assistant principal. I am excited to see what the future holds for the new administration team as they continue to move South Lamar in a positive direction.
