How to become a Bus Driver for Lamar County Schools

In order to be a Bus Driver for Lamar County Schools, you must have your Bus License. In order to receive your Bus License, you must take the following steps:

  1. Pass a background check

  2. Pass a 4 part CDL test

  3. Receive your Learner's Permit

  4. Participate in a minimum of 4 hours of training

  5. LCS Transportation Department will enroll you in a Bus Driver Certification Class

  6. Complete a 4-day Certification Bus Driving Class

  7. Pass a pre-employment drug screen test

  8. Get a DOT Physical

Upon completion of the Bus Driver Certification Class, you will receive a B Class License. You will then be placed on our Substitute Bus Driver List.
